This webcast explains how documentation and coding affect a patient’s Rehabilitation Impairment Category (RIC) and tier assignment and a facility’s 60% presumptive compliance. The recording provides specific examples that illustrate the effects of nonspecific coding and documentation on IRFs and patients alike, as well as suggestions for IRFs to improve their physician documentation and IRF PAI coding.
This webcast focuses on overcoming the challenges facing IRF HIM coders including the unique guidelines for coding in the IRF setting and the importance of communicating with the rehabilitation team
UDSMR’s ICD-10 help desk is a valuable resource for IRF coders. This session will help clarify common areas of confusion by reviewing frequently asked questions submitted to the help desk.
This webinar allows participants to validate what they know about coding the IRF PAI and the UB-04 claim form in order to accurately reflect each patient’s medical conditions and functional deficits. Prior to the webinar, attendees will complete an assessment consisting of twenty proficiency questions that target specific IRF PPS and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and concepts. These coding scenarios will cover assigning etiologic diagnoses, comorbid conditions, and complications on the IRF PAI, as well as the principal and secondary diagnoses on the UB-04. Participants will receive feedback immediately after they submit their responses during the prewebinar assessment and will be able to submit questions later for inclusion in the webinar. The live presentation will include a review of the rationales for the correct answers to the proficiency questions, based on IRF PPS coding guidelines, ICD-10 coding guidelines, and relevant CMS resources.
